There are a ton of different options for holiday accessories, so much so that it can be difficult to find the exact one that you want. If you’re looking for something fun and a little different, check out these options. You’re already adding sparkly and bling to every inch of your house for the holidays, why not add some to your hair as well!
One cute option you can use to add some glam to your look is tinsel. That’s right, tinsel. These are basically glitter stands in your hair, that you can use just like regular hair extension. If you’re not used to extensions, you can go the easy route and weave them into buns, braids, and other updos.
I like this set in particular because it’s extra glittery. You can get sets that are more like regular tinsel, but if you’re going to go with some sparkle, why not maximize the look? There are also a lot of color options that come with this set, so you don’t have to use the traditional red and green if you don’t want too. Silver, blue, and gold, are also good options, and they can even work for New Year’s Eve parties.
This set also includes a crochet hook to help you add sparkle strands in hair updos or whatever other style you’re doing.
One popular holiday hair accessory is hair ornaments. These are most often sold as beard ornaments, but you don’t have to have a beard in order to use one. The clips are designed so that they can be used for any hair, and many of these products are advertised as being for both men and women. As such, they’re a a great accent to add to any holiday party updo.

Jingle bells are a popular holiday motif that doesn’t get enough love as an accessory option. Their cheery sound is a great accent for the holidays, given it’s ubiquity in Christmas music. This set comes with plenty of bells, and I like that they’re done in a lot of different colors. Of course, you can also divide the set up and just go with red, green, silver, and gold for a more traditional look.
And if bells aren’t enough for you, it also includes four light-up baubles. All told, it’s a good set that has a lot options for a variety of looks.
If you’re more a fan of traditional decor, this ornaments are a great option. They look identical to the typically ball ornaments that you see on Christmas trees, just small and light enough to be warn in hair. Like the last set, this one does come with a few pops of color, but you can also stick to more traditional holiday colors instead.
Other Hair Decorations
If you’re not into the more common looks for the holiday season, here are some other options that you can try out. These are a little different than the typical accessories you’d expect.
Reindeer Antler Clips
When you think of antler accessories, headbands are more commonly used, but that’s not the only option. These set is a more subtle, less novelty oriented choice. I also like the addition of traditional holiday plants. It gives the set a very earthy, seasonal feel.
The clips used in this set are alligator clips, so they should be fairly secure in your hair, regardless of the style you choose.
Snowflake Spiral Clips
Relive the nineties with these winter spiral clips. Spiral clips, or swirl clips, are not as common as they once were, but they’re still an effective and cute way to decorate your hair. These typically work best with updos, but if you’re wearing your hair down, they’ll still hold near the scalp. For anyone who hasn’t used these before, the method is surprisingly simple. Place it flat over the section of hair you want the clip to be on. Spin it until the coil that makes up the “clip” disappears and is securely in your hair. To remove, spin it in the opposite direction until it releases.
The Best Accessory for Your Hair
My recommendation for holiday party hair accessories is to go with the one that you like the best. With most of these options, they’ll work for formal or informal looks, depending on how you style them. And don’t be afraid to mix and match! Tinsel in particular pairs well with a variety of accessories. You only get to do this one time a year, so you might as well have as much fun as possible!
